Compact Data Acquisition System
The Compact Data Acquisition System (cDAS) is a versatile system for signal conditioning and commuting up to 64 channels of analog signals and 16 low-rate digital signals. The cDAS is computer controlled so any commutation format may be accommodated. For smaller spacecraft, the cDAS can be programmed to act as a data-driven controller. A version of the cDAS was successfully flown on the Space Shuttle Endeavour on February 1996.

Number of analog channels: 16, 32, 48, or 64
Analog signal conditioning: Differential or single ended; Gains up to 1000; Bandwidth set at factory.
Number of digital channels: Sixteen 5 volt CMOS or switch closure to ground.
Format: Serial, NRZ, RNRZ, BI-Ø per IRIG 106. Clock line available to interface to digital data recorder.
Data rate: Up to 195,000 bits per second comprising 19,500 10-bit samples. 8-bit data optional.
Frame size: Frame size and organization factory set in firmware. Several frame formats may be selected by user.
Asynchronous input/output: A second serial port with differential or RS-232 signaling is available. Serial rates of up to 76,800 bps supported.
Squib/solenoid control: Up to 28 squib fire and monitor circuits plus 4 solenoid controllers housed in a second enclosure. Interfaces to cDAS with a serial link.
Dimensions: 7.062" wide (including mounting flanges) x 7.25" long x 6.063" high
