Torpedo Flotation Device
You do not have to look towards the skies to find some of L'Garde's products. We also have made products that are beneath the ground and beneath the seas.
Our Torpedo Flotation Device (TFD) is used to recover errant test torpedoes. The TFD is constructed from tough neoprene coated Kevlar fabric. There are two
TFD's installed on either side of the torpedo under a metal cover.
If the test torpedo sinks, a pressure sensor initiates an inflation of the two TFD's using dry nitrogen. The torpedo rises to the surface and the bright orange
color of the TFD's makes it easier to find the torpedo. Simple but effective.
This product is slated to save the Navy considerable expense in lost test torpedoes.

One of the TFD's packed under a protective panel.

A TFD after a test inflation. Normally there would be two TFD's: one on either side of the torpedo.
