L.Garde was founded in 1971 in Orange County, CA to support ballistic missile defense through the development and manufacture of inflatable targets and decoy systems. Since that time L.Garde has developed a wealth of knowledge about deployable space systems that include targets and countermeasures, deployable space antennas, in-space propulsion, deployable space structures, and deployable terrestrial systems.

CEO, President & Director
Mr. Barnes is president and chief executive officer of L.Garde. In this capacity, he is responsible for all operations and strategic direction at L.Garde. Mr. Barnes has been involved in the development of numerous deployable and gossamer structures including; lighter-than-air systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile defense target systems, and space based deployable structures.
Arthur Palisoc, Ph. D
As chief technology officer, Dr. Palisoc is responsible for overseeing the activities of the L.Garde engineering division including analytical, mechanical design and manufacturing departments. Dr. Palisoc also directs research and development projects. Prior to joining L’Garde, Dr. Palisoc was involved in developing algorithms and codes for massively parallel computers. Dr. Palisoc received his B.S. in Physics from Ateneo de Manila University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering (Device Physics) from University of California, Irvine.
Linden Bolisay, Ph. D.
Dr. Linden Bolisay is L.Garde’s chief strategy officer. Dr. Bolisay has research experience in polymer science, materials characterization, and nanotechnology. He is an expert in a suite of materials characterization techniques. Dr. Bolisay received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine.
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Veal is L.Garde’s chairman of the board. Mr. Veal is an expert in thin film inflatably deployed structures. Mr. Veal is responsible for the design of all L'Garde Inflatable Decoys and Targets from concept development through final design. These programs included the Inflatable Exo-atmospheric Object, Dual Decoy Technology, Thrusted Replica Decoy, Advanced Replica Decoy, Lightweight Replica Target, Special Replica Target, and numerous Spherical Balloon Targets and Decoys. Mr. Veal received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University, and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
Founder & Director
Mr. Hirasuna is a retired vice president and current director of L.Garde. Mr. Hirasuna co-founded the company in 1971 and was instrumental in the company’s growth beginning with its first contract with MIT Lincoln Laboratory and continuing through the development of the Inflatable Exo-atmospheric Objects (IEO) for the DoD. Mr. Hirasuna filled various roles with L.Garde on early decoy design programs, which included advanced decoy materials, underground testing and energy programs. Mr. Hirasuna was also responsible for the business and administrative aspects of the company during his tenure. Mr. Hirasuna received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering the University of California, Berkeley and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering the University of Southern California.
Dwight Duston Ph. D.
Dr. Duston is a director of L.Garde. In his role with L.Garde, Dr. Duston offers invaluable technical advice and direction with intellectual property, SBIR proposals, commercialization of innovative technologies, and marketing activities. Dr. Duston is an entrepreneur involved in five start-up companies in high-tech industries such as plasma displays, electro-optics, solar photovoltaic power, and ophthalmic devices and equipment. Prior to his work in the commercial sector, Dr. Duston was deputy for technology with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency. Major mission successes during his government tenure include the Clementine satellite that first discovered ice on the moon, SPEAR (Space Experiments Aboard Rockets), and MSX (Midcourse Space Experiment). He began his scientific career at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory and worked in x-ray lasers, dense plasma radiation, laser fusion and simulated nuclear weapons effects. Dr. Duston is a consultant to NASA on commercialization and small business programs, an inventor on 45 U.S. patents and the co-inventor of the first electro-optic multi-focal spectacle lens. He is the recipient of an R&D 100 Award, an Edison Gold Award, a Popular Science Award for Aviation & Space, and was appointed to The Planetary Society's Space Technology Hall of Fame. He is a former professor of Technology Management at the University of Maryland and holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Michigan.
Ms. Shadowen is a Senior Project Manager for Lamp Rynearson and has worked in the civil engineering field in Colorado and California since 1989. Her specialty is land development and infrastructure projects including grading, water, sewer, roadway and drainage design. Shar's background also includes capital improvement projects, golf course design, large diameter water pipelines and construction management.
Mr. Davidson is L.Garde’s chief operating officer for L.Garde. He oversees program management for numerous missile defense and NASA programs. Mr. Davidson’s experience includes 12 years in developing carbon composite tubular structures, and 15 years in aerospace product development for spacecraft bus and payload structures, fuel tanks, solar array substrates and launch vehicles. Earlier in his career, Mr. Davidson developed advanced materials such as bulk metallic glass, nanocrystalline and amorphous metals, and lightweight composites. He is the co-author of eight patents leveraging advanced materials to enable high performance, and holds both a Master of Engineering Mechanics in Composite Materials and a Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering from Cornell University.
As L.Garde’s chief financial officer, Larry is responsible for finance, accounting and resources. He also provides contract management services for L.Garde. Larry’s professional experience includes positions in public accounting and the real estate development industry. Larry is a certified public accountant and received his B.S. in accounting from Syracuse University.
